Remember Who You Are

Recorded in 1979 at K.R. Studio in Santa Monica and The Sound Factory in Los Angeles. Mark Davis produced the session, with Sly Stone working alongside returning Family Stone members including Cynthia Robinson, Freddie Stone, Rose Stone, and Pat Rizzo. Issued as a comeback single from Back on the Right Track, it signaled Sly & The Family Stone’s return to Warner Bros. and drew positive contemporary notices for its strong funk feel. The song became the album’s lead single and the group’s final notable chart entry. It stands as Sly & The Family Stone’s last charting single and one of the best-known late-period tracks from the Warner Bros. years. Later reissues and compilation appearances kept it in circulation as a representative track from the band’s final studio era.
