Autosuggestion
Joy Division · 1979Recording
It was recorded during the Unknown Pleasures sessions at Strawberry Studios in Stockport in April 1979, with Martin Hannett producing. The track appeared on the Fast Product compilation EP Earcom 2: Contradiction and was later included on Joy Division compilations. The track was one of the Joy Division recordings left off Unknown Pleasures and issued instead on Earcom 2: Contradiction in October 1979. It helped document the band’s studio work from the era that established their early reputation. Autosuggestion remained part of the band’s recorded legacy through later compilations, including Substance and Heart and Soul. It is also preserved in later archive releases of the same era.
