Recording

Recorded at Britannia Row Studios in London during the 18–30 March 1980 sessions for Closer, the track was produced by Martin Hannett. It features Ian Curtis, Bernard Sumner, Peter Hook and Stephen Morris but was left off the album. Factory released it in June 1980 on a free flexi-disc alongside Incubation and As You Said. Distributed through record shops after Curtis's death, it made otherwise unreleased material from the band's final album sessions available without charge. Its inclusion on the CD and cassette editions of Substance in 1988 brought it beyond the original flexi-disc release. It was subsequently collected on the 1997 Heart and Soul box set.
