The Ghost of Her Smile

Recorded for Tremor, with Daniel Avery collaborating with Julie Dawson of NewDad and studio partner James Greenwood. Avery and Greenwood produced and programmed the track, Alan Moulder mixed it, and Heba Kadry mastered it. Released by Domino in October 2025, The Ghost of Her Smile was issued as a late advance single from Avery's sixth studio album Tremor. The track highlighted the album's collaborative direction by placing Dawson's lead vocal inside Avery's distorted electronic and guitar-led production. The song remains one of the principal vocal collaborations from Tremor and one of the clearest examples of Avery's move toward a hybrid band-and-electronics sound. Its Zak Watson-directed video and later Midnight Version extended the track's presence in the album campaign.
