Brothers on a Hotel Bed

The track was recorded during the Plans sessions with Ben Gibbard, Chris Walla, Nick Harmer and Jason McGerr. The album was recorded in 2005 at Long View Farm in Massachusetts with Chris Walla producing. Released on Plans in 2005, it appeared on Death Cab for Cutie major label debut and became one of the album most prominent ballads. The song drew attention through its placement in the Fox drama The O C during the same period that the band crossed into a broader audience. It remains one of the band most recognized mid 2000s album tracks and a frequent fan favorite from Plans. Its piano led arrangement helped define the more expansive sound of the group Atlantic Records era.
