So Long
U Brown · 1979Recording
Recorded in Jamaica in the late 1970s and cut at Randy's and Channel One with backing by Skin, Flesh & Bones and the Revolutionaries. The original release was produced in the GG's circle by Alvin 'GG' Ranglin. Issued in 1979 on GG Records, the track sat in the late roots and rub-a-dub era of Jamaican reggae. It also became one of the U Brown cuts selected for retrospective compilation releases. The song has remained part of U Brown's catalog on reggae reissues and compilation albums, keeping it in circulation among collectors and DJs. Its enduring presence on sets and anthologies reflects its status as a durable sound-system era cut.
