JC Lodge · 1988
Recording

Recorded and mixed at Music Works Recording Studio in Kingston, Jamaica, for Anchor Recording Co. Ltd. Augustus "Gussie" Clarke produced the session, and the original single was issued in the UK on Greensleeves. The song became one of JC Lodge’s defining records and a major crossover dancehall hit. It was identified in Billboard as a new entry on the Hot Black Singles chart, marking its U.S. breakthrough. It is still cited as a landmark crossover reggae single and remains Lodge’s signature song. Later releases, remixes, and samples have kept it in circulation, including appearances in sample databases and reissues.
