Come as You Are

Little Roy · 2011
Recording

Recorded for Battle for Seattle at Miloco’s The Ironworks in London, with Little Roy on vocals and production by Prince Fatty and The Mutant Hi-Fi. The session reworked Nirvana’s song into a reggae-dub setting for the album’s 2011 cover concept. It was one of the most accessible tracks on Little Roy’s reggae reimagining of Nirvana’s catalog, and reviewers singled it out as a highlight of the project. The recording helped frame the album as a full-blooded genre crossover rather than a novelty cover set. The track remains one of the best-known examples of a Nirvana song recast as roots reggae, and it continues to be cited in discussions of unusual Nirvana covers. Its appeal has endured as part of Battle for Seattle’s cult reputation among both reggae and alternative-rock listeners.
