Well Well Well Dub

Well Well Well Dub

Grace Jones · 2011
Recording

The track was made for Hurricane Dub, the 2011 dub version of Grace Jones’s 2008 album Hurricane. Ivor Guest made the dub versions and handled production and mixing, working from the Hurricane material originally built around Jones’s vocal performances and the Compass Point-rooted rhythm section. Released in 2011, the track introduced Hurricane Dub as a free-download preview before the album’s September release on Wall of Sound and PIAS. Contemporary coverage highlighted it as a bass-heavier, rhythm-focused version of “Well Well Well.” The track remains one of the central versions from Hurricane Dub, which extended Jones’s late-career comeback album into a full dub reinterpretation. It preserved her long-running connection to reggae, dub, and Compass Point-style studio aesthetics in a modern remix context.
