Walking In The Rain

Walking In The Rain

Grace Jones · 1981
Recording

Recorded at Compass Point Studios in Nassau, Bahamas, with producers Chris Blackwell and Alex Sadkin, the track features Sly Dunbar, Robbie Shakespeare and keyboardist Wally Badarou. Jones reinterpreted the Flash and the Pan song for her 1981 album Nightclubbing. Opening Nightclubbing, the recording paired Jones's restrained vocal delivery with the Compass Point band's sparse backing. Its lyrics about gender and appearance aligned closely with her androgynous public image. The recording featured in A One Man Show and the 1985 retrospective Island Life. Its extended version received renewed attention through the 2014 deluxe reissue of Nightclubbing.
