Cuss Cuss
Horace Andy · 1981Recording
Recorded in the early 1980s at Wackie's in the Bronx for Horace Andy's Dance Hall Style album. Lloyd Barnes produced the session, with Andy reworking Lloyd Robinson's Cuss Cuss alongside Wackie's house musicians. Released by Wackie's in 1982, it placed Andy's voice over one of Jamaican music's most durable riddims within the distinctive Brooklyn Wackie's sound. The track helped make Dance Hall Style one of the key albums in Andy's post-Studio One catalogue. It remains one of Horace Andy's best-documented covers and a major Wackie's version of the Cuss Cuss songbook. Later reissues of Dance Hall Style kept the recording central to Andy's international roots and dancehall reputation.
