Super Cat · 1992
Recording

Recorded for Super Cat’s Columbia-era Don Dada sessions and issued as a Super Cat/Heavy D collaboration. William Maragh handled production with Robert Livingston and Alliston Harpaul, and Heavy D co-wrote and appeared on the track. The track helped push Super Cat’s dancehall into U.S. mainstream club and rap/radio spaces after his major-label move to Columbia. It stood out as a crossover single pairing a leading Jamaican deejay with a high-profile American rapper. It remains one of Super Cat’s best-known early-1990s crossover records and a standard reference point for dancehall-hip-hop collaboration. The song has continued to circulate on compilations, reissues, and performance setlists.
