Money Money
Horace Andy · —Recording
Horace Andy recorded Money Money for Lloyd Barnes' Wackie's label in the Bronx, with the track opening the 1982 album Dance Hall Style. The session featured Wackie's musicians including Oral Cooke, Henry Seth, Junior Delahaye, Jah T, Myrie Dread, Owen Stewart, Toney Allen, and Ras Menelik. The track introduced Dance Hall Style, one of Horace Andy's key early-1980s Wackie's albums. Its sparse New York roots production placed Andy's falsetto within the deep, dub-heavy sound that made the album a cult release. Money Money remains closely associated with Dance Hall Style and the Wackie's catalogue. The album's later Wackie's and Basic Channel reissues helped establish the track among later dub, roots, and left-field reggae collectors.
