Come Let Me Love You
Jeanette “Lady” Day · 1981Recording
Jeanette Lady Day recorded Come Let Me Love You for Prelude Records in 1981. Abraham Lincoln Day Jr. produced the single, Francois Kevorkian mixed it at Sigma Sound in New York, and Herbie Powers Jr. mastered the original 12-inch at Frankford Wayne. The single became Day's principal club record, reaching number 12 on Billboard's dance chart in 1981. Its Prelude release placed her in the New York post-disco network alongside records by D Train, Sharon Redd and Musique. Come Let Me Love You remains a collector-favoured Prelude 12-inch and a staple of boogie and post-disco DJ sets. Later Unidisc and Prelude compilations kept both the vocal and instrumental versions in circulation.
