Pull Up to the Bumper

Grace Jones · 1981
Recording

Recorded at Compass Point Studios in Nassau, Bahamas, during the Nightclubbing sessions, with the Compass Point All Stars and production by Chris Blackwell and Alex Sadkin. Released in 1981 as an Island single from Nightclubbing, it became one of Grace Jones’s signature records and a high point of her Compass Point era. Critics have long singled it out as a club record that captured her post-disco, dub-driven sound at its sharpest. It remains one of Jones’s most enduring songs, regularly cited in retrospectives on dance music and her career, and it has stayed in circulation through reissues, compilations, and continued club play.
