Avalon

Roxy Music · 1975
Recording

The track was recorded for Avalon with Bryan Ferry, Phil Manzanera, Andy Mackay and a group of session musicians including Neil Hubbard, Alan Spenner and Andy Newmark. The album sessions took place at Compass Point Studios in Nassau and the Power Station in New York, with Roxy Music and Rhett Davies producing. Released as a single in 1982, it became one of Roxy Music final major UK hits and the title track of their last studio album before their long breakup. The single reached number 13 on the UK Singles Chart. It remains one of Roxy Music signature late period songs and a defining example of the polished sound of Avalon. The track has endured through compilations, radio play and its central place in the band final studio statement.
