Recorded at Blackwing Studios in London during the Yazoo sessions for Upstairs at Eric’s, with Eric Radcliffe producing and Daniel Miller providing additional production on the track. The North American single version was later remixed by François Kevorkian. Released in 1982, it gave Yaz one of its best-known U.S. singles and helped establish the duo’s profile beyond the UK market. The track became a club and radio crossover, reaching the Billboard Hot 100 and strengthening interest in the album’s harder-edged synth sound. It remained a defining Yaz track and one of the duo’s most recognized recordings, especially through the U.S. 12-inch version and later compilations. Its dancefloor appeal kept it in circulation for club DJs, retro playlists, and synth-pop retrospectives.
