The Look Of Love, Pt.1

The Look Of Love, Pt.1

ABC · 1982
Recording

ABC recorded the backing track at Good Earth Studios in London with producer Trevor Horn, then mixed it at Sarm East with engineer Gary Langan. Anne Dudley arranged and conducted 25 string players at Abbey Road Studio One in 1982. The single became ABC's highest-charting UK release, reaching number four ahead of their debut album The Lexicon of Love. Its combination of live orchestration, synthesizers and precise studio production established the album's lavish sound. The song became one of ABC's defining recordings, lending its title to their retrospective Look of Love: The Very Best of ABC. VH1 ranked it number 43 in its 2006 selection of the greatest songs of the 1980s.
