It's My Life (Extended Version)
Talk Talk · 1984Recording
The extended version was built from the 1984 Talk Talk recording of "It's My Life," produced by Tim Friese-Greene and issued on the band’s second album campaign. The release was a U.S. 12-inch single on EMI America. The track carried Talk Talk’s breakthrough single into club-oriented 12-inch format and helped define the band’s early synth-pop and new wave profile. The original song reached number 46 on the UK Singles Chart and became the band’s first major international calling card. "It's My Life" remained Talk Talk’s best-known song long after the original campaign ended, and later reissues and covers kept it in circulation. No Doubt’s 2003 cover gave the composition a new mainstream life and introduced it to a new generation.
