Baby Let Me Kiss You
Fern Kinney · 1979Recording
Recorded and mixed at Malaco Studios in Jackson, Mississippi, for Fern Kinney's 1979 album Groove Me. The session was led by producers Carson Whitsett, Tommy Couch and Wolf Stephenson, with Whitsett playing keyboards and synthesizer. Fern Kinney's recording transformed King Floyd's 1971 song into an extended electronic dance arrangement. Released as a Malaco single, it demonstrated the label's move beyond Southern soul into synthesizer-driven club production. The track remains a distinctive reinterpretation of King Floyd's original and a recognised selection from Kinney's Groove Me album. Its extended arrangement has appeared on later disco compilations devoted to American club music.
