Need You Tonight

Recorded entirely at Rhinoceros Studios in Sydney during the Kick sessions, with Chris Thomas producing and David Nicholas engineering; Bob Clearmountain later mixed the track at Air Studios in London. Released in 1987 as the lead single from Kick, it became INXS’s only U.S. No. 1 and marked a tighter, more minimal funk-rock direction for the band. It remains INXS’s signature song and their only U.S. chart-topper, with enduring recognition reflected in later canon lists such as VH1’s 100 Greatest Songs of the ’80s and Billboard’s 500 Best Pop Songs.
