Blue Skies

Blue Skies

Jaymay · 2008
Recording

Recorded for Jaymay’s debut album Autumn Fallin', alongside producers Jared Engel, Louis Schefano, and Nico Georis. The album’s U.S. release was issued by Blue Note Records in 2008, with the song appearing as track 3 on the standard sequence. The song helped define the album’s fuller, chamber-folk sound; NPR highlighted its warm strings, piano riff, and prominent vocal placement when it premiered in 2008. Pitchfork later singled it out as one of Autumn Fallin'’s album peaks. Blue Skies has remained one of the most noted songs from Autumn Fallin', continuing to be cited in retrospectives and album reviews as a standout example of Jaymay’s orchestral indie-folk writing. It is still associated with the record that introduced her to a wider audience.
