Sunshine Day

Osibisa · 1975
Recording

Recorded in 1975 for Welcome Home at Roundhouse Recording Studios in London. The session was produced by Gerry Bron, with Ashley Howe engineering and Osibisa handling the arrangement. "Sunshine Day" was the breakout single from Welcome Home and became Osibisa’s biggest UK hit, reaching the Top 20. It helped push the band’s bright, celebratory sound into mainstream British singles radio. The track remains the song most closely associated with Osibisa and has stayed in circulation through later covers and samples. Its hook has been reused by artists including Matt Bianco, Clock, and Glaubitz & Roc.
