She's Not Just Another Woman

Recorded for Holland-Dozier-Holland’s Invictus operation and issued under the 8th Day name in 1971. The single paired the song with “I Can't Fool Myself” on the original Invictus release. The track broke through as 8th Day’s signature hit, reaching No. 11 on the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 3 on the R&B chart. It also became a gold record and one of Invictus’s biggest singles of 1971. The song remained a durable soul-funk staple and was later sampled by Biz Markie on “She's Not Just Another Woman (Monique)” and by DJ Quik on “Born and Raised in Compton.” Its hook and groove kept it in circulation through reissues and compilations.
