Billy Paul · 1979
Recording

Recorded in Philadelphia at Sigma Sound Studios for Billy Paul’s 1979 First Class sessions, with the Philadelphia International team around Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff and arrangements by John L. Usry Jr., Ed Green, and Billy Paul on the album. It was issued on Philadelphia International as a single from First Class, Billy Paul’s final studio album for the label, and it did not chart. The track sat alongside the album’s late-period Philadelphia soul material as Paul’s PIR run was nearing its end. The song remains part of the Billy Paul catalog through later reissues and digital services, and it is still associated with the closing chapter of his Philadelphia International era. Its enduring value is as a late example of the label’s classic Sigma Sound production style.
