I'm In Love
Evelyn “Champagne” King · 1981Recording
Recorded in 1981 at Sigma Sound Studios in Philadelphia for the album I'm in Love. It was produced for Mighty M Productions by Morrie Brown, Kashif, and Paul Lawrence Jones III. The track was one of Evelyn King's biggest early-1980s hits, pushing her firmly into the post-disco and contemporary R&B mainstream. It reached No. 1 on the U.S. R&B and dance charts and crossed to the pop chart as a top 40 single. The song remained one of King's signature records and a durable club-era favorite. Janet Jackson sampled it on her 2004 track "R&B Junkie," helping keep the song in circulation with later generations.
