Nights Over Egypt

The Jones Girls · 1981
Recording

Recorded at Sigma Sound Studios in Philadelphia as part of the Jones Girls’ 1981 album Get as Much Love as You Can. Dexter Wansel produced the track, with Cynthia Biggs co-writing it for Philadelphia International Records. The song captured the group’s polished Philadelphia soul sound at a moment when the label was still shaping early-1980s R&B. It became one of the album’s best-known cuts and later drew attention as an R&B favorite. The track stayed in circulation through later covers and sampling, which kept it active beyond its original album cycle. Its smooth arrangement and melodic hook made it a durable source for later R&B and hip-hop artists.
