This Feeling’s Killing Me

Recorded in Philadelphia in 1979 for The Jones Girls’ debut album at Sigma Sound Studios. Charles Simmons and Joseph Jefferson handled the production, with the trio’s Philadelphia soul styling centered in the session. Issued as an album track on the group’s Philadelphia International debut, it showed the smoother, more intimate side of the Jones Girls’ sound. It helped define the album’s mix of polished harmonies and modern Philly soul. The track remained a favored deep cut and later drew new listeners through samples by Die Fantastischen Vier and Flamingosis. It also inspired later covers by Celetia, Norma Lewis, and Jennifer Benjamin.
