Spank
Jimmy “Bo” Horne · 1979Recorded in Miami for the 1979 Goin' Home for Love sessions, with Harry Wayne Casey and Richard Finch producing the track as part of the Sunshine Sound/TK Miami dance-soul production circle. The release was cut in the same TK family that powered Jimmy 'Bo' Horne’s late-1970s disco run. 'Spank' became one of the album’s standout club records and helped define the glossy Miami disco-funk sound associated with Sunshine Sound at the end of the 1970s. It circulated as a dance-floor favorite and was later reissued in remix form. The track remained a lasting source for later dance records, most notably DJ Falcon’s 'First,' and it also surfaced in film and remix culture, keeping the song in club and sample circulation. Its reputation endured well beyond its original release through repeated reuse by DJs and producers.
