Light My Fire

Light My Fire

Shirley Bassey · 1970
Recording

Recorded in 1970 for Shirley Bassey’s album Something, with Johnny Harris and Tony Colton handling the production and Harris also shaping the arrangement. The track was part of Bassey’s contemporary stylistic shift on the United Artists sessions for that comeback album. It appeared on Something, the 1970 album that restored Bassey’s commercial momentum and placed modern pop material beside her established repertoire. Her version of “Light My Fire” reflected the album’s updated, orchestral-pop direction under Johnny Harris. Bassey’s reading became one of the best-known non-Doors versions of the song and has remained a recurring compilation and reissue track. It continued to circulate on later releases and in cover-song references tied to her 1970 comeback era.
