Fast Car

Recorded in Kingston, Jamaica, at Music Works and issued as a Steely & Clevie production. The track is Foxy Brown’s 1989 reggae cover of Tracy Chapman’s "Fast Car." The single followed Foxy Brown’s earlier Chapman cover and helped establish her early reputation as a reggae interpreter of contemporary pop material. It was part of the run of late-1980s releases that brought her wider attention in Jamaica and beyond. The track remains part of the Foxy Brown catalog noted in reggae cover histories and streaming catalogs, where it is still cited alongside her better-known early Chapman rendition. Its afterlife is tied to the enduring popularity of reggae reworkings of pop songs from that era.
