I Feel Love

I Feel Love

Donna Summer · 1976
Recording

It was recorded at Criteria Studios in Miami during the Children of the World sessions in early 1976, with Barry Gibb on lead falsetto vocals and Karl Richardson and Albhy Galuten working alongside the group in the production room. Stephen Stills also contributed percussion during the February sessions. Released as the lead single from Children of the World, it became the Bee Gees' third U.S. No. 1 and their first major chart hit built around Barry Gibb's falsetto. Its success marked a clear turning point in the group's move into disco and made it one of the defining singles of the era. The song remains one of the Bee Gees' signature records and is remembered as the track that helped establish the falsetto-led Bee Gees sound that dominated late-1970s pop. Its inclusion in Saturday Night Fever gave it lasting cultural reach far beyond its original release.
