People's Choice recorded Do It Any Way You Wanna in 1974 at Sigma Sound Studios in Philadelphia. Leon Huff wrote and produced the track, with Jay Mark credited for recording and mixing. The single was released on TSOP in 1975 and became the group's biggest crossover hit. It reached number 1 on Billboard's soul chart, number 3 on the dance chart and number 11 on the Billboard Hot 100. Do It Any Way You Wanna became a Philadelphia dance classic and a gold-selling record. Its groove later formed the basis of Dillinger's Cocaine in My Brain and remained prominent in funk, disco and hip-hop DJ culture.
