Do It Any Way You Wanna

Louie Ramírez · 1976
Recording

Recorded by bandleader, vibraphonist and arranger Louie Ramirez during the mid-1970s as part of his exploration of Latin soul, funk and dance music. The recording brought together New York Latin session musicians and featured a salsa-inflected reinterpretation of a contemporary funk hit. Released in 1976, the track reflected the growing crossover between disco, funk and Latin music in New York clubs. It demonstrated Ramirez's ability to adapt popular dance material into a Latin-oriented format while maintaining strong appeal on the dance floor. The recording became a favourite among rare-groove, Latin funk and dance collectors and is regarded as one of the notable crossover recordings in Ramirez's catalogue. Its energetic arrangement has helped preserve its reputation among DJs seeking Latin-infused disco and funk material.
