Bill Summers · 1988
Recording

Bill Summers and Summers Heat recorded Straight to the Bank in 1978 at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley, Wally Heider Studio 3 in Hollywood, and Sunset Sound in Hollywood. Leon Ndugu Chancler produced the album with Bill Summers as associated producer, and the track was written by Chancler, Summers, Freddie Washington, and Leo Miller. Straight to the Bank became one of Bill Summers and Summers Heat's biggest singles after its 1979 Prestige release. It reached number 34 on Billboard's dance chart and number 45 on Billboard's R&B chart. The track remained a durable jazz-funk and disco collector favorite from Summers's Prestige catalogue. Its later digital reissue through Craft Recordings restored the full album and disco mix to wide circulation.
