Paradise Circus
Massive Attack · 2008Recorded during the Heligoland sessions in 2009, with Hope Sandoval on vocals and Massive Attack’s Robert Del Naja, Grant Marshall and Neil Davidge shaping the track alongside Stew Jackson, Dan Brown and Stuart Gordon. It was a key Heligoland track and marked Hope Sandoval’s first collaboration with Massive Attack, helping define the band’s return after a seven-year studio-album gap. The song later gained attention as a prominent album highlight and as a release strong enough to draw a Burial remix. Paradise Circus became one of Massive Attack’s best-known late-period songs, helped by Burial’s remix and later placements in television and other media. Its afterlife extended beyond the album through the 2011 Four Walls / Paradise Circus release and soundtrack use in series such as True Blood.
