Recording

Deadmau5 wrote and produced “Brazil (2nd Edit)” for Random Album Title, with Joel Zimmerman credited as the sole producer and writer on the release. The track was issued as part of the album-era single campaign around the 2008 Random Album Title material. The track stood out as one of the signature cuts from Random Album Title and was released as a vinyl single rather than a standard chart push. Its melody later became recognizable beyond deadmau5’s own catalog through high-profile reuse by other artists. “Brazil (2nd Edit)” remained durable because its hook was borrowed and interpolated in later pop and dance releases, most notably Alexis Jordan’s “Happiness.” It also stayed in circulation through compilation appearances and deadmau5’s own catalog reissues.
