Turn the Music Louder (Rumble)
KDA · 2015Produced by the anonymous London-based DJ and producer KDA as a vocal reworking of his earlier instrumental "Rumble," featuring a rap verse from Tinie Tempah and a vocal hook from Katy B, and released through Ministry of Sound with an accompanying remix EP including two reworkings by Armand Van Helden. The track debuted at number one on the UK Singles Chart on 23 October 2015, beating One Direction, Diplo, and The Weeknd, becoming Katy B's first chart-topper and Tinie Tempah's seventh. The instrumental "Rumble" had already built substantial underground momentum before Annie Mac gave the vocal version its first radio play, after which it trended to number one worldwide on Shazam and was playlisted across BBC Radio 1, 1Xtra, Capital, and Kiss. The track appeared on Katy B's third studio album Honey in 2016 in a version without Tinie Tempah's vocals, and stands as one of the rare examples of a specialist underground house record crossing over to mainstream UK chart dominance during the mid-2010s.
