Time Is the Answer

The track was written and produced by Earl Gateshead and Daddy Ad for Trojan Sound System, with lyrics by Jah Buck and Superfour and backing vocals by Chucky Bantan. It was engineered by Mark Ralph at Club Ralph, mixed by Earl Gateshead and Daddy Ad at Metropolis Studios, and given a dub mix by Darren Morris. Released in 2015, the single marked Trojan Sound System’s return with original roots material after a run of live shows and sound-system appearances. Rough Trade promoted the 12-inch as a limited 500-copy release and described the track as a summer anthem from the group’s sold-out headline dates. The track remains one of Trojan Sound System’s documented original singles and continues to circulate in vocal, dub, instrumental, and 12-inch disco mix forms. It preserves the group’s mid-2010s studio identity outside its better-known role as a selector collective for the Trojan catalogue.
