Rasta Tell Dem

Recorded for Macka B’s Never Played A 45 project with Peckings brothers Chris and Duke Peckings at the helm. The track rides a classic reggae backing derived from Toots and the Maytals’ “54-46 Was My Number.” At release, the song captured the vinyl-revival sentiment at the center of the album and became one of its standout cuts. It was praised as an anthem and the original 7-inch sold out quickly. The track remains one of Macka B’s best-remembered late-period singles and a key example of his conscious singjay style over vintage reggae rhythms. Its appeal has endured through reissues, streaming, and continued club play among reggae selectors.
