Eye Of The Danger
Michigan & Smilie · 1979Recorded in Kingston, Jamaica at Clement "Coxsone" Dodd’s Studio One, with Michigan and General Smiley voicing the cut over a Studio One rhythm base. The track formed part of the 1979 Rub A Dub Style set issued on Studio One. It captured Michigan & Smiley at the start of the first wave of dancehall, when their double-deejay call-and-response style was helping define the new rub-a-dub approach. The song also extended Studio One’s practice of reworking classic riddims for contemporary deejay cuts. The track has remained part of Studio One’s catalog canon, appearing on later compilations such as Studio One Rockers, and it is still cited in sample and track-database references. Its link to the reused "Danger in Your Eyes" foundation keeps it visible in reggae history discussions.
