Little Bit

Lykke Li · 2007
Recording

Lykke Li recorded “Little Bit” for Youth Novels, her debut album, during sessions in Stockholm at Atlantis, Decibel and Högalid. Björn Yttling produced, recorded and mixed the track, Lasse Mårtén co-produced and co-engineered it, and Henrik Jonsson mastered the album. Released by LL Recordings in 2007 as Lykke Li’s debut single, it introduced her minimal, intimate pop writing before the full release of Youth Novels. Its spare percussion, close vocal and Björn Yttling production helped establish her as one of the most distinctive Scandinavian pop newcomers of the late 2000s. The track remains one of Lykke Li’s early signature recordings and a key song from the Youth Novels era. Its later placements, remixes and sampling by hip-hop artists extended its reach beyond the Swedish indie-pop audience that first embraced it.
