Feel Like Jumping

Feel Like Jumping

Marcia Griffiths · 1968
Recording

Marcia Griffiths recorded the song at Studio One in Kingston in 1968. It was written by Bob Andy, produced by Coxsone Dodd, and arranged by Jackie Mittoo. The single became Griffiths’ first solo hit and established her as one of Studio One’s major new voices. It is widely remembered as a defining rocksteady-era release from Jamaican popular music. The song remained a reggae standard and drew later covers and sample uses, including a cover by Bad Manners and sample references in later dance and reggae tracks. Its melody and rhythm continued to circulate beyond Jamaica.
