I Got To Get Away

I Got To Get Away

Dave Barker · 1970
Recording

Recorded in Jamaica and issued as the B-side to "Wet Version" on the 1970 Jackpot single. The production is credited to Bunny Lee. The single captured Dave Barker in Bunny Lee’s early 1970 run of releases and helped define his place in the deejay era around Kingston’s hit-making studios. It circulated on later compilations, including Trojan DJ Box Set and Monkey Spanner, which kept the track in print. The track has remained a recurring anthology cut for Barker, appearing on Trojan reissues and reggae compilations over the years. That continued placement has preserved it as part of Barker’s catalog beyond the original 45.
