Released in 1993 as a Fashion 12-inch single, “Limb by Limb” was cut by Cutty Ranks, whose birth name is Philip Thomas. The track is credited to Thomas as producer and appeared with an acapella and hip-hop mix on the original issue. The single became a major club record, later remembered as a sound-clash favorite and a key Cutty Ranks title from the era that pushed his name further in the UK and US. Official Charts records it peaking at No. 15 on the UK Official Dance Singles Chart. “Limb by Limb” remains one of Cutty Ranks’ best-known tracks and has been sampled or referenced in more than 40 songs, including later electronic and hip-hop releases. Its vocal hook has kept it active well beyond its original dancehall run.
