Watch How the People Dancing

Kenny Knots · 1985
Recording

Kenny Knots recorded the track for Unity Sounds, the North-East London sound-system label run by Robert Fearon, known as Ribs. The original 12-inch paired the vocal with a version and placed it alongside Errol Bellot's A Weh Do She. The track was a mid-1980s UK sound-system hit for Kenny Knots and Unity Sounds. It captured the raw digital London dancehall sound that emerged after the rise of keyboard-built riddims. The track became the title cut of Honest Jon's Unity Sounds compilation, bringing the label's London dancehall catalogue to a wider reissue audience. It remains one of Kenny Knots' signature recordings and was revived in later Reggae Roast and Conscious Sound versions.
