Feel So Real
Steve Arrington · 1985Recording
Recorded for Steve Arrington’s 1985 debut solo album Dancin' in the Key of Life, the track was cut during the album sessions at Dawnbreaker Studios in San Fernando, California, and Devonshire Sound Studios in North Hollywood. It was produced by Keg Johnson and Wilmer Raglin. Released on Atlantic as a single from Dancin' in the Key of Life, it became Arrington’s biggest UK hit and reached No. 5 on the Official Singles Chart in 1985. It helped establish the album as his solo breakthrough and a favored dancefloor record. The song has remained a touchstone in 1980s funk, with later listeners and writers citing it as a bridge between disco and house. It has also been sampled and covered, keeping it active in club and reissue culture.
