Evil Vibrations

Recorded by Detroit-area group The Mighty Ryeders for their sole album Help Us Spread the Message. The sessions featured the band's core lineup blending tight rhythm-section grooves, horn arrangements and socially conscious songwriting under independent production. Although it received little commercial attention on release, Evil Vibrations became one of the standout tracks from the album and developed a strong reputation among rare-groove collectors. Its infectious bassline and driving rhythm helped it become a staple of DJ culture. The track became one of the most sampled records in rare-groove history, appearing in numerous hip-hop, acid jazz and breakbeat productions. Its instantly recognizable groove has kept the record in demand among collectors and cemented its status as a crate-digging classic.
