She's Got That Vibe

It was recorded for Cooleyhighharmony at Philadelphia’s Studio 4, New York’s Soundworks, and Doppler in Atlanta, with Dallas Austin producing and Michael Bivins appearing in the song’s rap cameo. The writing credit also included Nathan Morris and Shawn Stockman, alongside Austin and Bivins. As Boyz II Men’s debut single, it introduced the group’s self-described “hip hop doo-wop” style to mainstream pop and took the song to No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100. Its references to ABC and BBD tied the record to Michael Bivins’ East Coast Family network and the early-1990s new jack swing scene. The song remains one of Boyz II Men’s signature records and a defining early-1990s crossover hit. It has also proved durable as a cover song, with multiple later versions documented by second-hand song histories.
