Kool Is Back
Funk Inc. · 1971Recording
Recorded in 1971 by Funk, Inc., the Indianapolis-based jazz-funk group led by organist Bobby Watley and guitarist Ronnie Walker. The track appeared on the album Superfunk and featured the band's signature Hammond organ-driven groove and tight rhythm section. The recording helped establish Funk, Inc. as one of the key groups in the early jazz-funk movement on Prestige Records. Its combination of soul-jazz improvisation and deep funk rhythms made it a favorite among DJs and groove collectors. The track became a sought-after breakbeat and sampling source for hip-hop producers and rare-groove enthusiasts. It remains one of the most recognized recordings in the Funk, Inc. catalog and a staple of early 1970s jazz-funk compilations.
